Sirocco Golf Club is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Golf Course Superintendent. We are a vibrant a semi-private 18 golf course located in the Foothills, just South of Calgary along Pine Creek. Surrounded by some of the most amazing scenery in Alberta, we’re looking for that special person with the right work experience and passion to help us continue along our journey to be what our members deserve.
Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for all facets of golf course maintenance including, but not limited to staff scheduling, training and supervision, course setup, irrigation scheduling and repair, fertilizer/pesticide applications, and project management. You will also understand and implement maintenance logs for equipment servicing.
Job Duties & Required Abilities
- Perform all work in safe and responsible manner
- Work cooperatively with fellow staff members
- Attend weekly team meetings and report on outstanding issues or updates
- Keep work areas clean and organized at all times
- Make sure shop area meets all Alberta safety standards
- Plan and supervise the daily and seasonal golf course maintenance
- Supervise and participate in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, practice facility and cart paths
- Work with Mechanic on equipment maintenance scheduling
- Assist in the repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment
- Work with administration on timely and accurate account reporting
- Understand the importance of following an operation’s budget
- Establish management and employee safety procedures
- Instruct and train equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment
- Create a fertilizer application schedule and/or operates and calibrates fertilizer application equipment
- Create a pesticide application schedule and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment
- Participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Must love the golf industry
- Bring a positive and high energy to the work place
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts
- Must have a Pesticide license
- Minimum of 10 years golf course and maintenance experience required.
- Must have valid driver’s license
- A strong working knowledge of golf course equipment
- Must be able to operate various equipment
- Must be able to lift a maximum of 50lbs independently
