Assistant/Associate Golf Professional

The Nanaimo Golf Club is seeking a PGA of Canada Assistant / Associate Golf Professional.

Established in 1920, The Nanaimo Golf Club has been host to many of British Columbia’s Golf Championships. And was designed by renowned architect A.V. Macan.

In 2022 NGC was awarded the PGA of BC, Vancouver Island Region, Golf Facility of the Year..

The successful candidate will be actively involved in the Professional Team. He/she will report directly to the Head Golf Professional and will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Providing first class service to members and guests.
• Supervising and training member services staff.
• Involvement with Tournament Operations
• Club Fitting and club repairs
• Placing special orders resulting from Demo and Fitting Days.
• Junior Development (Spearheading the Junior Program)
• Actively playing and promoting Golf.

Qualifications

• PGA of Canada member in good standing
• Post-secondary degree or college diploma with a golf management discipline (or working towards)
• Proven excellence in member services, sales, and organizational skills.
• Positive, professional attitude and a team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Club Fitting and equipment knowledge.
• Knowledge of JONAS point of sales system is an asset.
• Knowledge of Golf Genius Tournament software is an asset.
• Tournament operations experience.
• Ability to work a varied schedule.
• Ability to teach players of all skill levels.
• Previous experience in a busy semi-private / private golf industry setting is considered a strong asset.

Compensation

• Full Time (12 months)
• $20 - $22 per hour depending on experience (overtime paid at time and half)
• April to September 5 hrs. per week (play, practice or teaching on shift time)
