Fantastic golf course conditions, beautiful sunny weather, and delicious meals were in store for the 76 golfers who participated in the 2010 NGCOA Canada Eastern Ontario / Outaouais Chapter Golf Invitational held on Aug. 16th at Casselview Golf & Country Club. A sincere thank you goes to Claude & Daniel Leclair, owners of Casselview G&CC and their entire team for all their hard work and effort to make this day so enjoyable for everyone – great job! As well, without the support of our Golfmax Platinum Partners, this tournament’s success would not be possible.
We extend a very special thank you to Club Car, Golfmax Insurance Plans, Ontrak Procurement Services, and Rain Bird for their continued support of the NGCOA Canada’s initiatives. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the three regional summer chapter meetings June 15-17th. It was great to see so many chapter members out for these meetings and to discuss key current issues with their fellow golf course owner/operators. Click on the following links for:
Property Assessment update
The Assessment Review Board has approved the negotiated settlement of the Glen Abbey appeals through 2008. As a result, they have advised that all golf course appeals that were on hold in the Central Issue File, have been scheduled for a pre-hearing meeting in November.
The intent of this pre-hearing meeting is to establish the status of your appeal between the parties involved (taxpayer, MPAC & municipality). Those members who have not engaged a consultant or counsel to represent their interests may continue to represent themselves at this pre-hearing meeting. We expect that this occasion will be used to set the groundwork for ARB procedural plans towards a full hearing and resolution.
In a best case scenario, the NGCOA Property Tax Committee will have been satisfied that MPAC is applying the Glen Abbey settlement principles on a fair and equitable basis to all outstanding golf course appeals and that MPAC has sent you revised assessment values for your consideration.
Should you accept those revised values to all outstanding appeals identified prior to the pre-hearing date, your meeting will be cancelled. Rejection of the new values or non-receipt means that the meeting date is your first step towards final resolution via the ARB dispute resolution process.
MPAC Negotiation update
Our last report indicated that the Committee and MPAC were reviewing a select number of courses for closer scrutiny. 10 NGCOA member clubs have authorized MPAC to provide the committee with information that will result in a value to compare to MPAC’s.
The Committee has completed this exercise and is reviewing our results with MPAC.
An announcement is expected shortly.
